My brother found a great drawing of Lara Croft model Karima Adebibe and suggested I should color it… So here it is:
Usually I’m spending more time on something like this, but going for a quick solution turned out to be a good choice. I did all the coloring with my Wacom tablet. Credit for the original artwork goes to Marie Whatley.
Great work! You managed the shadows really well, and the reflections in the hair are very atmospheric. I just don’t like the blur around it, because I think it takes away the three dimensional feeling you created within figure. It would be nice if you could provide a larger image of that coloration, I\’d love to see more details 😉 The original drawing is (of course) amazing too!
Thanks!
I tried to create the comic-like cell shading in the simpliest way… Originally I intended to create a background as well, but I wanted it to be finished. So I ended up with this black background and the additional border to make the outlines stand out clearly. That is done with most comic artworks in a style similiar to this… But you\’re right, I could\’ve done it in a differnt way.
BTW: When you click on the image, it takes you to the large version posted on dA…
